BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College women’s soccer team dominated in a midweek Route 42 rivalry game against EMU blanking the Royals 6-0 on home grass at the Bridgewater Soccer Complex.

How It Happened
The Eagles got off to a strong start scoring the opening goal minutes into the game with a corner kick assist and rebound by Skyler Baum and Lyric Birkley. Katherine King would knock in the goal to make that her third goal of the season.

Soon after Bridgewater kept the foot on the gas tacking on a quick follow-up goal scored by Laura Narby. Narby then found the back of the net for her second goal of the game.

The Eagles continued to iniate their attacks down the corners with great separation from EMU’s defensive line.

By the end of the first half, Bridgewater scored five goals outdoing the Royals in possession and attack.

In the second half, the Eagles once again went the way they did the previous scoring sequences opening the field out wide and attacking from the corners. Bridgewater concluded their scoring ways with their sixth goal of the game to give them their third win of the season.

Match Notes
Bridgewater ripped away at net 26 times with 10 on goal and six of those being successful knocks.

The Eagles put up the most points on the season in a game tallying six goals and five assists.

First year Lucy Larson marked her first goal of the season.

Junior Lyric Birkley continued to impress leading BCE with eight total points, topping that off with four assists and two goals to her season stat sheet.
