HARRISONBURG VA: (ROCKTOWN NOW) – An area of low pressure moved over North Carolina late Monday into today, dumping up to 18 inches of rain on parts of the state and leading to governor to declare a state of emergency for the state. The National Weather Service at Wilmington reported 18-inches of rain in 12-hours at one reporting station. What’s this storm mean for us in the Shenandoah Valley? Current guidance from the National Weather Service and AccuWeather are leaning towards an inch to an inch and a half of rain, between today and Wednesday night in the central Shenandoah Valley with areas in the northern valley seeing less. Meanwhile, areas south, near Roanoke and to the east of the Blue Ridge may see closer to three inches on rain.
