The Rockingham County Baseball League announced their major award winners for the 2024 season on Sunday as they get set to open the postseason Monday night.

The Player and Pitcher of the Year is Bridgewater’s Chris Huffman.

Huffman went 4-0 on the mound this summer with a 0.93 ERA as he finished with 55 strikeouts in 38.2 innings, and he had just four walks. Huffman finished the regular season first in the league in wins, saves, strikeouts (55), WHIP (0.724), and was tied for first in fewest walks allowed among qualifying pitchers (4). His ERA was second in the league, as was his Batting Average Against (.166) as he helped lead the Reds to a regular season pennant and a 19-5 record.

At the plate this season, Huffman hit .388 with a .429 on-base percentage and .500 slugging percentage. He finished tied for first in the league in hits (38), second in RBI (27), second in runs scored (28), third in batting average, tied for third in doubles (8), and eighth in slugging percentage.

Broadway’s Seth Moomaw is the Rookie of the Year in the league after hitting .415 during the regular season with an on-base percentage of .486 and a slugging percentage of .569. He had 27 hits, seven of which were doubles, to go along with 14 RBI and 14 runs scored.

Tim Nicely from the Grottoes Cardinals is the Manager of the Year in the County League after guiding the Cardinals to a 15-9 record and a 2nd place finish in the regular season. Their .625 winning percentage was the best for a Grottoes team since they reentered the league prior to the start of the 2015 season.

The first round of the RCBL playoffs begins Monday with four best-of-three series:
