NEW ORLEANS (JMU Athletics) – James Madison will serve as the host site for the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the league office announced on Monday morning.
The conference meet is set to take place from May 8-10 at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Va. This will be the first time the program has hosted conference championships since 2021 when the Dukes were members of the Colonial Athletic Association (now Coastal Athletic Association).
“We are thrilled to bring the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships to James Madison for the first time in 2025,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Keith Gill. “While this will be the first Sun Belt Conference championship hosted on JMU’s campus, the Dukes are no strangers to hosting major events. We look forward to the first-class experience they will provide for our student-athletes and fans at Sentara Park next spring.”
“James Madison has a long history of hosting conference and NCAA postseason competitions in many sports, and we’re excited to host our first Sun Belt Championship in track and field next year,” JMU Director of Athletics Matt Roan said. “Track and field may be the largest conference championship in terms of the total number of participating student-athletes, which in turn impacts our local community with additional guests, exposure and economic benefit. Our staff has already begun preparing and we’re looking forward to hosting a first-class championship experience next year at Sentara Park.”
The 2025 Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships will stream live on ESPN+ all three days, beginning with the running events each day. Field events will be recapped during the live broadcast each evening.
